More Information

Forced from their homeland by the repressive military junta, these two families have lived in a Thai refugee camp for many years. A resettlement scheme offers them the chance of a new life, but their new home, in the British city of Sheffield, will be different to everything they have ever known.

With intimate access, this feature-length documentary depicts the families' moving and sometimes humorous struggles with 21st century Britain. Their stories give us a unique insight into the experiences of displaced people throughout the UK, whilst showing the human consequences of Burma's political unrest.

The film was shown on More4 as part of the True Stories strand.

The filmmakers have partnered with City of Sanctuary, the Refugee Council to use the film to promote greater awareness, tolerance and acceptance across the UK. Nick Clegg MP spoke at the film's premiere at the Sheffield Doc/Fest. They have also partnered with Film Aid to show the film in refugee camps to help prepare people in transit for the experience of relocation.
